Ethel Stewart

On Saturday, April 23, the Lord called His angel Ethel A. Stewart to rest after battling a long illness. She was born August 3, 1926 in Standish, N.Y., to the late Jessie Stewart and Pauline Westfield, both of Greenville, S.C.

As a dedicated employee, she devoted 13 years of her expertise in the Building Services Department at Yale-New Haven Hospital where she later retired.

She was predeceased by her siblings Marie Jordan, Catherine Thomas, and Howard Stewart. She is preceded by her sister Adeline Washington of Orlando, Fla. Left to cherish her memory are her six children, Gloria Stewart of Richmond, Va., Deborah Ferguson of Hamden, and Anthony Stewart, Diane Stewart, Carolyn Stewart and Allen Stewart, all of New Haven. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grand children, a great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A celebration of life will take place Monday, May 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9 – 10:30 a.m.
