Gladys DeYounge, 67

Gladys DeYounge, 67, of New Haven, passed away Nov. 24, 2016.

She was born in Harlem to the late Wilsie Scott and Lester Jackson on Dec. 28, 1948. She was a licensed clinical social worker for many years at Fair Haven Community Health Center and an active member of the National Association for Black Social Workers. During her years in New Haven, Gladys was a member of Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ, Community Baptist Church, and Varick Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church.

Gladys leaves to cherish her memories, son, Adesina DeYounge; daughters, Joy DeYounge and Nia DeYounge; brother, Warren (Roz) Midgett; sisters, Delma Jackson and Carolyn Jackson (Drake) Colley; granddaughter, Arianna Chi Daniley-DeYounge; and a host of relatives and close friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Khalid Hashim Bey and Geoffrey Scott Midgett.

A celebration of life will take place Dec. 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ, 217 Dixwell Ave, New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may visit Friday at the church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Services by Howard K.
