Gladys E. Thorne, 76 of New Haven, born November 18, 1939 to the late Belton & Lossie (Sellers) Evans in Chesterfield, SC, passed away on January 9, 2016.
Gladys loved to cook and bake for her family. She leaves to cherish her memory; husband Wilbert Thorne of New Haven; sons Tearance (Regina) Evans of NC and Glenn Little of Bridgeport; two daughters Sharon Mumford of New Haven and Gladys Thorne Everson (James) of GA; sister Viola Dukes of New Haven; stepsisters Betty and Sandra Bracy of New Haven; stepbrothers, Lee, Donnie, Joe Ross, and Duncan Bracy all of SC; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grand children and a host of family and friends. Along with her parents she was predeceased by daughter Patricia Boggs, sister Nellie Powe, and brothers Hulee, Walter, and David Evans. A celebration of her life will take place on Friday January 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Union Temple Free Will Baptist Church; 54 Platt Street, New Haven, CT 06511 with visitation Wednesday at the church from 9:00 – 11:00 AM.
