Hazel C. Green, affectionately known to her family as “Ginger” passed from this life on Saturday, December 3, 2011.
She was born on March 14, 1929 in Greenville, MS to the late Hazel R. Williams Green and Dewey B. Green. A lifelong resident of the City of New Haven, she attended the New Haven Public Schools. She was an avid volunteer for the New Haven Housing Authority and received many awards. She was a devout Christian attending church where she enjoyed singing and praising the Lord. Her hobbies and activities included singing, dancing, fishing and collecting figurines. She leaves to cherish her memory, 5 daughters, Mary Green and Robin Silva (Daniel) of Hamden, CT, Josephine McPhail (Melvin) of Waterbury, CT, Betty Green of New Haven, CT, Elaine Williams of Griswold, CT; 21 grandchildren, 30 great grand children, 1 great-great grandchild and a host of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by 1 son, Robert A. Green. A celebration of her life was scheduled for Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 11AM at Christ Chapel New Testament Church, 220 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven, CT 06511 with a calling hour at the church from 10 – 11AM.
