James Hall

James T. Hall was born on August 22, 1922 in Clover, South Carolina to the late Raymond and Hattie Hall. He was the eldest son of nine children; four brothers and four sisters. He was raised in Clover, SC and spent most of his youthful life in the South. At the tender age of fourteen, he was baptized and turned his life over to Christ. Brother Hall became a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Clover, SC and during his attendance there he joined the junior Usher Board. His beginnings at Jerusalem Baptist Church would lead to a lifetime of church service as an Usher. In later years, he moved to North Carolina and married the late Martha Williams. With this union he raised their two nephews, Donald and the late Carl Williams. In 1942, the Halls moved to New Haven, Connecticut. While residing in New Haven, he joined the Trinity Temple Church of God In Christ under the late Bishop C.H. Brewer. Brother Hall was a faithful member for over fifty years, a dedicated Usher, and a Trinity Temple Men’s Chorus member during his attendance at Trinity Temple Church. In 2004, Brother Hall joined the Bethcar Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Maurice Johnson. As a seasoned porter, Dad Hall soon became the president of the Senior Usher Board until he became seriously ill. Brother Hall is a retired cook of Far East Restaurant in New Haven, CT. He was a quiet man with a pleasant demeanor who strived to make the lives of others better. He was a very caring, loving and selfless person. He worked tirelessly to do for others without the care of recognition. His church nicknamed him Dad Hall” for the way he treated his church family. His family called him, Dab Daddy” because of his stride with his cane and his snazzy fashion sense. His presence will be missed in the lives of many. He leaves two sisters, Dora M. Mitchell of Columbia SC, and Eloise Freitas of Amityville, NY, two godchildren, Pastor Deidre Johnson and Wade Rodney Townsend, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who mourn their loss. He was predeceased by Clyde, Wilma, Robert Lewis, Cordell, Inez, Lizzie Mae Elder, and Maggie Bell.We celebrate Dad Hall for consistently modeling the scripture: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.” Though we will miss Dad Hall for a very long time, we are comforted by our knowledge that he has entered into eternal rest with the lord. Services by Howard K.
