Katherine Shaw, 69, of New Haven, departed this life July 1. She was the widow of Joseph Shaw.
Born in Georgetown, S.C., on May 15, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Martha Canteen.
She is survived by sisters Betty Hancock (Robert), Sarah M. Gore, Barbara White, Sylvia Fields (John) and Susan Canteen; brothers Leonard Canteen, Jr. (Wilhelmina), Willie E. Canteen (Carolyn) and James Albert Canteen (Marie); grandchildren Terry and M. Shaw; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildred Shaw; a brother, Nathaniel Canteen; and brothers-in-law Lawrence Gore and Frederick White.
A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Shaw’s life and legacy will be held Friday, July 8, at 11:00 a.m. at Rock Tabernacle Ministries, 94 Webster St.
