Kenneth Oliver, 73

Kenneth Vincent Oliver, Sr. of New Haven, CT was born on July 20, 1938.

After 73 years of life he entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 14, 2012. He was the son of the late Walter J. and (Anna) Muriel Page-Oliver. He graduated from James Hillhouse High School, class of 1956. He was the Owner/Operator of the Oldest African American Business in the City of New Haven, Walt’s Cleaners”, serving the community for 66 years. He was a member of Beulah Heights First Pentecostal Church and later became one of the founding members of Ebenezer Chapel where he was an active member at the time of his passing. He served in various capacities including Head Deacon and renowned Sunday School Teacher. He was a sponsor of the Pop Smith little league baseball team for many years. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving Wife, Carol Delores Brooks-Oliver; Sons, Kenneth Jr. (Renee) NHFD, Mark (Laverne), Nathan, of New Haven, Theodore (Sheila) NHFD of Bloomfield, Philip (Mikki) Oliver NHFD and one Daughter Muriel (Sydney) McKenzie of Hamden. He also leaves two brothers; Walter Richard Oliver of The Valley, Ronald (Corncie) Oliver of Hamden, one sister-in-law, Barbara Oliver of New Haven, 22 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and church family. He also had many God Children. A celebration of his life will take place on Friday July 20, 2012 at 6PM at Ebenezer Chapel, 50 Dwight St New Haven, CT 06511 with calling hours from 4 – 6PM. Saturday, July 21, 2012, interment will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park at 10AM. Service by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT.
