Lelia Salters-Jackson

Lelia Salters-Jackson, 71, of New Haven passed away on October 18, 2010. Mrs. Salters-Jackson, daughter of the late Florenia Salters Burgess, the late Charles Montgomery and late James Harold Burgess was born in Kingstree, SC on May 4, 1939. Lelia was a great cook, patient, loving, fun and orderly. Lelia leaves to cherish her memory; husband, Edwood Jackson of New Haven; sons, Charles Salters of West Haven, Issac Oliver of New Haven; daughters, Yvonne Hammonds and Nijja Jackson both of New Haven, Deborah White of, VA; brothers, James (Dorothy) Burgess of West Haven, Lucious (Elizabeth) Burgess of New Haven and Leroy Jefferson (Georgiana) Burgess of SC; sister, Rose Marie Gamble, Annette (Ernest) Whack, and Angie (Fred) Amos all of, SC; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She also leaves special caretaker of many years, Miss Michelle Lowery. She was predeceased by son, Willie Salters, and sister, Helen Salters. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday October 28, 2010 11:00 AM at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel Street, New Haven. Friends may call Thursday at the church from 10 – 11AM.
