Lena Cyrenius, 89

Lena Olive Cooper Cyrenius, 89, of New Haven, died July 21, 2014 at Connecticut Hospice at Branford.

Olive” as she was known by many of her friends and family was born on February 12, 1925, in Fifth Company Village, Moruga Road, Princess Town, Trinidad, West Indies. Lena is predeceased by her parents the late Louis Arthur and Ancil Mariam Woods Cooper. She is survived by her brother, Winston Cooper, two children, Merlyn and Anthony; six grandchildren, Tonisha, Andrea, Leroy, Judy, Justin, and Otis; eight great grandchildren, Jewel, Brook Lynn, Jennifer, Justin, Jimmy, Jonathan, Jasmery and Lereisha, her favorite niece Maureen Gibbs and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Here in New Haven, she worked for many years as a certified nurses’ aide for the aged. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church, 425 Newhall Street, Hamden, CT 06517. Services by Howard K.
