Leo G. Clarke, Jr. 97, of New Haven, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017. He was born in Norfolk, VA to the late Leo G. and Irma G. Williams Clarke, Sr. on August 15, 1919. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired as a co-owner of Clarke House and Window Cleaning in New Haven, a business started by his father in 1918. Mr. Clarke was truly a Man of God and loved teaching his word.
Leo leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Leo G. Clarke, III, George Clarke, and Ronald F. Clarke; brother, George B. Clarke; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Harriet E. McCoy Clarke; son, John A. Clarke; brother, Enoch Clarke; sisters, Lydia McNeil, Eunice Beatty, and Irma Kelly.
A celebration of his life will take place Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Bethel A.M.E Church, 255 Goffe St, New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Tuesday at the church from 9:00 – 11:00 AM.
