Leona May Whitford of New Haven passed away suddenly on April 15, 2015.
She was born on May 25, 1945 in Salem, NJ, to the late Claudine (Sutton) Kelley. She will be remembered for her easy going spirit and enjoying past times such as reading, going to the theater, and eating out; she was an avid bowler. She was a member of the Ebony Social Club where she enjoyed traveling the Caribbean. Leona leaves to cherish her loving memory siblings Christopher Kelley of NJ, Claudia (Sansaricq) Mathieu of New Haven, Hope (Ahmed) Soliman of NJ., nieces Kanika Sarcione of Hamden, Erin McNemar of Milford and Dana Drinks of NJ whom she helped raise. Other nieces include Rebekkah Sutton, Kristy Marie Kelley, nephews Jonathan Sutton, Canaan McCray, Christopher Kelley Jr., George Edward Kelley and a host of relatives and friends. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, April 27, 2015 at 11 AM at Beulah Heights First Pentecostal Church; 782 Orchard St., New Haven, CT 06511, with visitation Monday at the church from 10 – 11 AM.
