“Pete” Leonard E. Johnson, 83, of New Haven, CT passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Montowese Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born June 27, 1928 in New Haven, CT, son of the late William Thomas Johnson & Edith Boyd Johnson McDaniels and step son of the late Edward McDaniels. He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1953. He worked at Sargents of New Haven, CT for 40 years and retired in 1993.
He leaves to cherish his memory; daughter, Patricia (Kenneth) Young of Hamden, CT; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Johnson of Hamden, CT and Margaret Clements of New Haven, CT; grandson, Jeffrey (Colby) Johnson of Hamden, CT; God daughter, Tamara Edwards of Hamden, CT. He was predeceased by wife, Evelyn Johnson, brother, Russell B. Johnson and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of his life will take place on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 11AM at Bethel AME Church, 255 Goffe Street, New Haven, 06511. Calling hours at the church on Thursday from 9 – 11AM.
