Lillian W. Edwards, 86

Lillian W. Edwards, 86 of New Haven, entered peacefully into eternal rest on December 26, 2014.

Lillian affectionately known as Lily White” and Mother Lily,” was born in Greenville, NC on August 19, 1928 to the late Henry and Marion Freeman. She is predeceased by her Husband Bertie Edwards of 68 years, six children and sixteen brothers and sisters. Lily is survived by her only sibling, sister, Frances Leigh (Freeman) of Mount Vernon, NY. She is the loving mother of six living children, sons Charles Edwards of CT, Derrick Edwards of MA, Edward (Eddie) Edwards of NJ, and daughters, Adio Akil (Deborah Ann Edwards) of NY, Sheila M. Temple (Edwards) of CT and Betty Edwards-Smith of NJ. Lillian was a beloved grandmother of 21 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of family and friends.

Lillian was a federal employee of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in West Haven, CT for 28 years. A celebration of her life will take place Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11AM at Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St. New Haven, CT 06511 with visitation Friday at the funeral home from 9:30 — 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery; 769 Ella T.
