Lurajean Allen 60, of Batter Terrace in New Haven, passed away on June 29, 2013, at CT Hospice.
She was born on August 8, 1952 in New Haven, CT. to Everlena (Patterson) Allen and the late, Homer Allen. Lurajean was a great softball player, she started playing at the age of 12 and later joined the “Social Lites Softball Team” of New Haven. She was a D.M.R. worker for the state of CT for over 20yrs. Besides her loving mother Everlena she leaves to cherish her memories, long time companion, Raymond Mitchell of New Haven; son, Tyrone Allen of New Haven; daughters, Monica Allen, Marlo (Clarence) Boyd both of Hamden, Melissa Allen of New Haven; brothers, Samuel (Dot) Crawford, James (Annie) Coleman, Robert L. Coleman all of SC. Thera Allen, Leotis (Dorothy) Allen both of New Haven; sisters, Josephine Martin, Elizabeth Campbell both of SC. Jeanette Reynolds, Everlena Allen, Patricia Ann Allen all of New Haven; 7 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. A celebration of her life will take place Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 11:00AM at The New Trinity Temple Church, 285 Dixwell Ave. New Haven, CT., with calling hours, Tuesday, from 9 – 11AM at the church.
