Magnolia GaGa” Childs, 88

Magnolia GaGa” Childs, 88, of New Haven, entered into eternal rest on August 30, 2015.

Born in Dade City, FL, January 9, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Clara Barksdale Leslie.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Childs was employed at Yale-New Haven Hospital and had also been employed at the former Billways Dress Shop for 26 years.
She was a member of Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Childs is survived by a daughter, Lois Pollard (Carl); stepdaughter, Fannie Jackson; daughter in-law, Joan Pat” Spence; a sister, Marion Thomas; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by husbands, Willie Spence, Frank Jackson and Leslie Childs; sons, Willie Spence, Jr. and Arthur A. Spence; brothers, Wesley, Johnnie, Willie and Arvel Leslie; sisters, Mary Roberts, Pearl Leslie and Alice Leslie; and a grandson, Michael Spence.
A celebration of Mrs. Childs’ life and legacy will be held Friday, September 4, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel St., New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Professional services entrusted to Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven.
