Mrs. Mamie Lee Kornegay, born November 15, 1924 in Columbus, GA to the late Susie W. Thomas and John Hood entered into rest November 7, 2010. Mamie was married to the late Alexander Kornegay. Mamie lived in Columbus, GA most of her life until coming to New Haven. She was a nurse aide at the Hospital of St. Raphael and was a lifelong member of Christian Tabernacle Church of Hamden. She leaves to cherish her memory; sons, Ronald Jackson (Pat) of New Britian, Johnny Jackson (Gina) of New Haven; devoted niece, Edna Hood of West Haven; stepson, Keven McCormick of New Haven; brother, Matthew Thomas of OH; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Frances Armour, and Susie Hood Boddie. A celebration of her life will take place Friday, November 12, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church, 425 Newhall Street, Hamden. Interment will be in Hamden Plains Cemetery.
