Maria Elisa Reid, 92, of New Haven, departed this life on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, after a brief illness.
She was born in the Republic of Panama on Dec. 23, 1923, to the late Charles Reid and Eldica Alleyne Reid. She spent most of her life in New York City, and moved to Connecticut to be with her family in 2001.
She leaves to cherish her memory her niece and nephew Enola Aird and Delber Aird, both of Connecticut, for whom she was a second mother; grandnieces and grandnephews, Michael Aird and Natasha Rodriguez of Atlanta, Ga., and Leah Aird Carter and Andrew Aird Carter of New York City; two great-grandnieces and two great-grandnephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
A celebration of life and homegoing will be held on Oct. 29, 2016, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 111 Whalley Ave., New Haven, CT 06511, with visitation from 10:00 AM-11:00AM, and the service at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Brooklyn, NY, at The Evergreens Cemetery. Services will be provided by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St., New Haven, CT 06511.
