Marion Thomas, 83

Marion Thomas of New Haven went home to be with the Lord, January 3, 2012.

Marion was born October 17, 1928 in Charleston, SC to the late Joseph and Lucille (Fergeson) Edwards. She was predeceased by her husband, Elder Luther Thomas who was the founder of Thomas Chapel Church Disciples of Christ, New Haven, CT. As a devoted member, she sang in the choir and expanded its ministries by creating various ministries such as, The Disciples of Christ Chorus, the Jr. #2 Usher Board, Youth Fellowship and the Soup Kitchen. She leaves to cherish her memory; son, Tallence Luther Thomas of New Haven; brother, Alfonzo Edwards of New Haven; sister, Edna Ravenell (Harry Jr.) of SC and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by brothers, Andrew Edwards and John Edwards; sisters, Anna Johnson, Sena Caldwell, and Evelyn Manigiult. A celebration of her life will take place, Friday, January 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Thomas Chapel Disciples of Christ, 30 White Street, New Haven, CT 06511 with calling hours at the church, Thursday, January 12, 2011 from 6 – 8:00 PM. Immediately following the celebration of life service, Interment will take place at Beaverdale Memorial Park.
