Marjorie Carroll James, 90

Marjorie Carroll James age 90 passed away after a long illness on Tuesday June 16, 2015 at the Advanced Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Haven, Connecticut.

She was the mother of Stuart Carroll.

Mrs. James was the youngest child born to Joseph Aubrey and Mary Louise Carroll on November 13, 1924. She was educated in the New Haven public school system and graduated from James Hillhouse High School in 1941. She was employed by the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services for 23 years. In 1989, Mrs. James received an official Citation from the Connecticut General Assembly upon her retirement as recognition for her years of dedicated service.

Mrs. James was an active communicant of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where she sang in their Gospel Choir and was active in many guilds prior to her illness.

Besides her son Stuart Carroll, Mrs. James leaves to cherish her memory her sister Mrs. Mildred Chapman, of New Haven, nephews; Joseph Carroll, Jr. (Elnora) of Hamden, Dean Carroll of New York, nieces; Pamela Bivens of Hamden, and Leslie Brinkley (Michael) of North Carolina. She was predeceased by a sister Iris C. Steadwell, and brothers Aubrey L. Carroll, Louis A. Carroll, and Joseph J. Carroll, Sr.

A celebration of her life will take place Monday June 22, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church; 111 Whalley Ave., New Haven, CT 06511, with visitation Monday at the church from 10 – 11 AM. Interment will be held at Hamden Plains Cemetery; Hamden, CT. Services by Howard K.
