Mary Scott, 78, of New Haven born on August 27, 1936 in Kingstree, SC to the late Drayton McElveen and Alice McElveen, passed away July 8, 2015.
Mrs. Scott will be remembered for her rewarding position with the Department of Children and Family Services as foster parent and caregiver. She leaves to cherish her memory sons; Joequian McElveen of NY and John Solomon of Bridgeport, daughters; Sharian (David) Scott-Brooks of Hamden, Joyce, Ember, and April McElveen and Arnesha Aldrich all of New Haven; brothers Smith McElveen and Charles Edward McElveen both of SC, sisters; Minnie (Johnell) Nesmith and Oree Diaz of SC, 4 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. She is predeceased by husband William Hargrove, brothers Seaward and Samuel McElveen, and sisters Louise Bostic and Elizabeth Gamble.
A celebration of her life will take place Thursday July 16, 2015 at 11 AM at Agape Christian Center; 100 Goffe St., New Haven, CT 06511 with visitation Thursday at the church from 10 – 11 AM.
