Mosslin I. Townsend, 91

Mosslin I. Townsend, 91, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on Thursday.

He was the beloved husband of Keturah Townsend. Mr. Townsend was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica on Nov. 10, 1926, son of the late Uriah and Neletha Townsend.

Prior to retiring Mosslin was employed at Yale University in the Grounds Maintenance Department. He was a member of Promise Land Church of God. Mr. Townsend was previously a member of Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Men’s Chorus.

In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish loving memories, daughters, Beverley Townsend, Nelethia Townsend-Jones and Dorrett Townsend-Brown (Rosee); a brother, Marcus Townsend; sister, Norma Townsend; grandchildren, Dante Jones (Ruth), Jeremy and Dijon Jones and Ivana and Timothy Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

A celebration of Mr. Townsend’s life and legacy will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Promise Land Church of God, 240 Burwell Rd., West Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Professional services entrusted to Curvin K.
