Nathaniel Harris, 83, of New Haven, departed this life April 17.
Born in Durham, N.C., on Aug. 5, 1927, he was the son of the late Will and Christine Harris.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at Elm City Plumbing Supply Co. as a truck driver.
He leaves to cherish his memory: sons Joseph Toomer, William, Nathaniel Anthony, Deon and John Harris; daughters Brenda Toomer, Bernell Fulton (Clay), Christine Harris Steele (Vincent), and Valerie, Patricia, Natalie and Joanne Harris; his companion, Doris Phillips; 26 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margie Steward; son in-law Alvin Steward; brothers James L. Harris and Carl Mims; and a sister, Williemae Parker.
A celebration of Mr. Harris’ life and legacy was held Monday, April 25, at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park. An online guestbook is available at www.curvinkcouncil.com.
