Oboist William Bennett, 56

SF Symphony Photo A New Haven musical success story died during a performance the week before last.

The musician, William Bennett, was 56. He died during a performance of the San Francisco Symphony, in which he served as chief oboist. He had a cerebral hemorrhage.

Bennett was born in New Haven in 1956. He attended Hooker School, Neighborhood Music School, and Hopkins, before studying at Yale and then Julliard.
