Rahkman Sekou, 63

Dr. Rahkman Sekou PhD, formerly known as, Rufus Smith, 63, of New Haven, passed away on July 19, 2013, at Yale New Haven Hospital.

He was born on December 25,1949 in Fayetteville, NC; to the late Archie Smith and Mattie (Tate) Smith. Dr. Sekou was a loving, devoted husband to Bonnie (Thompson) Smith for 35 years. He was a Master Chess Player, an excellent Pool Player, an avid reader and listener of talk radio. He also owned Sekou & Sons Towing Company. In addition, Dr. Sekou was a licensed Paralegal and Contractor. Besides his loving wife, Bonnie; he leaves to cherish his memories, son, Rufus Smith II, daughters, Myra Smith and Neia Smith of New Haven; Janet Murphy mother of Althea Star both of Wallingford, and Natasha Smith of New Haven; 8 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will take place Friday, July 26, 2013 @ 11AM at Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT.
