Ruby Viola Charles Allen, 81

Ruby Viola Charles Allen, 81, of 25 Hard Street, New Haven, entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 29, 2015 in Connecticut Hospice.

She was born on January 17, 1934 in Darlington County, South Carolina to the late Montess (Byrd) and Benjamin Charles, Sr. Ruby attended the Ansonia Public School System until graduating in 1952. She most enjoyed watching the girls UCONN basketball games. Ruby held employment with Uniroyal in Naugatuck, for over 20 years before retiring from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in North Haven. She joined St. Matthews UFW Baptist Church where she was a member of the senior choir, and worked diligently with the church’s food pantry. She was also a very active and life member of the I.B.P.O.E of W.

Left to cherish her memories are her beloved niece, Trena Daniels (Freddy) of Hamden, cousin Rosalie Hill (Bennie) of West Haven as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is predeceased by brothers; James Charles, Sr., Willie Andrew Charles Sr., Benjamin Charles Jr., and sisters, Betty Davis, Margaret Charles, Montess Blanchard, and Rosa Lee Jordan.

A celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Matthew’s UFW Baptist Church; 400 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven, CT., with the Pastor Kevin C. Hardy officiating. Calling hours are from 9 – 11 AM. The I. B. P. O. E. of W turnout will take place at 10:30 AM.
