Samuel W. Troxler, 91

Samuel W. Troxler passed away peacefully on February 2, 2016 at the age of 91.

He was born on January 6, 1925 in Greensboro, NC to the late George and Mabel Haynes Troxler.  He served in the military during WWII as an ambulance driver overseas.  Samuel attended high school in Greensboro, NC as well as the Agricultural College (AT&T) in NC.  He had a long career at SNET and retired in 1989.  He was a member of Temple Beth EL both in Greensboro, NC and New Haven.  Samuel had a passion for singing and was the lead singer of local singing group Gate City Vocalaires of Greensboro, NC, a group that consisted of his brothers and friends.  He leaves to cherish in his loving memory five daughters, Diane (Reginald) Jackson of Hamden, Sandra Williams of Hartford, Cynthia Troxler, Patricia Troxler and Melody Troxler all of New Haven; one son Samuel Troxler, Jr of Hartford; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his loving wife Gloria Pearl (Plummer) Troxler, twin sons Keith and Kenneth Troxler, three brothers Peter Troxler, Zebulon Troxler, Nehemiah Troxler; two sisters, Martha Newkirk and Esther Jenkins.  He will be remembered for his unwavering faith and belief in God.  The family would like to thank the staff of Masonic Health Care Center. Services will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Bethel AME Church, 255 Goffe St., New Haven.  Viewing will take place from 10 – 11:00am followed by a service 11am.
