Vivian Elizabeth Ellis (Carter), 76, of New Haven, departed this life January 29, 2013.
Born in Orangeburg, SC, September 8, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Charles V. and Lillie Mae Ellis.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at Yale University as a Secretary for 22 years in the Surgical Pathology Department.
She was a member of Holy Ghost Deliverance Church in New Haven.
Ms. Ellis is survived by daughters, Sylvia and Charlease Carter; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Charlene Carter; a niece, Nancy Ellis; and a sister, Hattie Mae Hill.
A celebration of Ms. Ellis’ life and legacy will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 9:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Viewing will be held from 8:00 – 9:00 A.M. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Online guestbook available at www.curvinkcouncil.com
