Wally Gates
posted: Jan 15, 2010 7:55 am
Our friend Wally Gates passed away on Dec. 11, 2009.
New Haven born and long-time Atlanta resident, and musician, Wally Gates (born Walter Furgalack) died on December 11, 2009.
Gates, 44, was a talented musician, songwriter, and producer. During his life, he was a member of the popular New Haven, CT band, 100 Faces,
and the Atlanta, GA bands Kathleen Turner Overdrive and Loudflower.
Gates is survived by his wife, Carrie, his son, Hunter, his father, Walter, his brother, Gary, and many loving friends and pets.
There will be a memorial gathering to celebrate Wally’s life on Saturday, Jan. 16 from 2 - 6 PM at Gryphon’s Pub located downstairs at the GPSCY Bar. There will be a cash bar and we are encouraging people to bring food to share (hot or cold). Wally’s music, as well as some of his favorite songs, will be played throughout the afternoon.
If you have photos you would like to contribute to the slide show please email them to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) by Thursday Jan. 14. In addition, please feel free to bring framed or loose photos to share as there will be an area set up to display these.
Friends and family are encouraged to share memories or stories during the early portion of the afternoon.
There will be a tribute/benefit concert sometime this coming Spring to celebrate Wally and his music.
If you want to read more about this unfortunate loss, please see Chris Arnott’s Advocate article.
