Walter Williams, 87

Walter E. Williams, 87, of New Haven, departed this life February 1, 2012.

He was the widower of Essie Williams.
Born in Smithfield, NC, July 4, 1924, he was the son of the late Samuel H. and Ophelia Williams.
Mr. Williams was employed by Fusco Co. for over 40 years as a Construction Worker. He was a WWII Army veteran.
He is survived by daughters, Rose Coleman, Rebecca Benford and Diane Barker; eleven grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; special nephews, Ward C. and Narvel Williams; a special friend, Mary Myern; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by a son, Henry Williams; brothers, Andrew O., Grady C., Lawrence A., Darnell and Edward Williams; and sisters, Nellie and Laverne Williams and Gladys Sanders.
A celebration of Mr. Williams’ life and legacy will be held Thursday, February 9, 2012, at 10:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in Hamden Plains Cemetery. Online guestbook available at www.curvinkcouncil.com
