On Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT. God called home our beloved Wendell R. Jeter. He was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia on January 15, 1967 to William & Brenda (Ferguson) Jeter.
Wendell professed his faith at an early age. He graduated from Wilbur Cross High School 1985. He was employed with CMB Maintenance. He will be greatly missed for his big smile and loving ways. Wendell was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Wendell was affective known as DIP and loved to play baseball & most of all his family time.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, wife Charles Etta Holland-Jeter, a daughter Shakerra Jeter, a stepson La Donte Holland, goddaughter Janiyah Tolson. His siblings (3) sisters: Tanya (Bennie) Coleman, Jennifer Jeter, and Felicia Grimes. (4) Nieces: Yvonne Ford, Robin Samuel, Jaunae’ & Janiyah Tolson. (2) Great nephews: D’Andre Ford & Dionte Smallwood along with (1) great niece: Ny’asia Benton, all of New Haven, CT. (8) aunts, Helen Gregg, Barbara Jean Smith of Stafford, VA. Janice Turner, Cora Ferguson & Barbara Ann Bates, Emily Ferguson all of Fredericksburg, VA, Sherry Dickerson of Charleston, SC., Dorothy Ferguson of New Haven, CT. (5) uncles Morris Smith of Stafford, VA, Dennis Ferguson, Carl Ferguson of Fredericksburg, VA, Charles Ferguson of New Haven & Thomas Dickerson of Charleston, SC. His mother– in-law Etta Dukes. (3) Brothers –in-law Bennie Coleman, Charles Dukes & Eugene Morton, (1) sisters-in-law Nikki Dukes along with other family and friends.
Wendell was preceded in death by (4) aunts: Lorraine Anderson, Juliette Owens, Sharon Ferguson & Alma Thorpe. (3) Uncles: James Ferguson, Jr., Wilfred Ferguson, and Leon Ferguson. (2) Cousins: Robin Thorpe, Roderick Bates. A celebration of Wendell’s life will take place on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 11AM at St Matthews UFW, 400 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven, CT 06511 with calling hours at the church from 9 – 11AM.
