William A. Jackson, III, 59

On Sunday morning, January 18, 2015, William A. Jackson, III, 59, peacefully departed this life.

A lifelong resident of Hamden, Connecticut, he was born on December 7, 1955 to the late William A Jackson Jr. and Melcena Bailey Jackson.
During his formative years, he attended grammar and Junior High schools in Hamden and graduated from Hamden High School. While a student there, he was athletically inclined and played on the Varsity basketball team. Upon graduation, he attended West Virginia State College, Institute, WV; (now known as West Virginia State University)

A few years later, he met and married his wife, Donna and eventually left West Virginia and moved to Washington, D.C. To this union was born a son, William A. Jackson, IV. His employment included several years with the Greyhound Transportation Services in Washington. In ensuing years, he returned to Connecticut. During the latter several years of his life, he provided care and assistance to his mother.

Bill was an active and lifelong member of Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church. He participated in Sunday Church School and sang in the Men’s Choir.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted mother, Melcena B. Jackson; his wife, Donna Barrow Jackson and his son, William A. Jackson, IV, both of Cheverly, MD; brother Wayne (Rosalind) of Hamden, CT; cousin, Charles (Verna) Goodwyn, Jr.; two grandchildren, Farrah Jackson and Kayla Jackson also of Cheverly, MD. Additionally, there are many other relatives and friends who share the same sentiment.

A celebration of his life will take place on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT. The calling hour is from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and the service will follow immediately at 11:00 a.m.

Professional services entrusted to the Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT. Interment will take place at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven, CT.
