William Tyler Butler “Bill” 80 of New Haven, CT passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012.
Born in Kenwood Georgia to the late Cicero and Hannah Dixon Butler on November 18, 1931. Loving husband of Barbara Jean Echols Butler for 55 years. Beside his devoted wife, he leaves, 2 sons, Cameron Leon Butler, Derrick Marshion Butler and a daughter Sonia Butler Gilchrist, beloved son-in-law Timothy Gilchrist; 2 precious granddaughters, Genesis Gilchrist and Tiffany Gilchrist, loving sister, Josephine Bussey, sisters-in-law, Helen Butler of CT, Angelia Echols, Mary Dan Butler; Hurlene Butler and Harold & Virginia Echols of Atlanta Georgia, daughter in Christ Shirley “cookie” Frasier and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in life by 4 brothers, James, John, Cicero and Benjamin Butler and 2 sisters, Charlie Mae Griffin and Marion Allen. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 9AM at Varick A M E Zion Church, 242 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven, CT 06511. Calling hours at the church on Saturday from 8 – 9AM. Interment will be in Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown, CT.
