William J. Gillard, 68, of New Haven, departed this life October 30, 2013.
He was the husband of Sabrina Gillard.
Born in Hemingway, SC, April 23, 1945, he was the son of the late Norwood and Mattie Brown Gillard.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Gillard was employed at Metro-North Railroad.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Tyrone and Evan Gillard; a daughter, Lashawn Pascal; a brother, James Gillard (Carletta); sisters, Geneva Gillard and Joyce Delores Leach (Kenneth); 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by a brother, John S. Gillard; and a sister, Cynthia Flowers.
A celebration of Mr. Gillard’s life and legacy will be held Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 9:00 A.M. at United House of Prayer for All People, 100 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 8:00 – 9:00 A.M. Burial will be in a Evergreen Cemetery. Professional services entrusted to Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven.
