Willie Dean Rose, 88

Willie Dean Rose, 88, of New Haven, departed this life July 14, 2012.
She was the widow of Willie McKenzie Rose.
Born in Wilmington, NC, April 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Walsie and Pauline Johnson Rawls.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at the former Jewish Home for the Aged as Certified Nurse’s Aide.
She is survived by sons, William (Betty), Walter (Rosalie), Gary (Beatrice) and Kevin Rose; daughters, Joanne Thompson (Albert), Barbara Lewis (Charles), Patricia Hill (Alvin), Marlene Rose and Brenda Avery (Kevin); a brother, Willie Rawls (Jean); sisters, Lelia Pearl McCrae and Betty Sue McKithen; sister in-law, Azzalea Rawls; dear friend, Catherine Moody; thirty-three grandchildren; fifty great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a son, James Edward Rose; daughters, Sara and Debra Rose; a brother, Walsie Rawls, Jr.; a sister, Mary Ethel Randall; and three grandchildren, Jamal Thompson, Monique Carpenter and William Rose, Jr.
A celebration of Mrs. Rose’s life and legacy will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012, at 9:00 A.M. at Bible Gospel Center, 143 Leeder Hill Dr., Hamden. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 8:00-9:00 A.M. Burial will be in Hamden Plains Cemetery. Professional services entrusted to Curvin K.
