Willie Jones, Jr., 67

Willie Jones, Jr., affectionately known as Chef Will” by his students and Butch” by his friends, of New Haven, CT entered into eternal rest after a courageous battle with prostate cancer on Sunday, October 5, 2014.

He was born in Wilmington, North Carolina to Avery Green Jones and the late Willie Jones, Sr. on September 11, 1947. He is survived by his brothers Randall N. Jones of Wilmington, NC; Jay (Mary) Jones of Gastonia, NC; Drew S. Jones of Wilmette, IL; Myron (Sandra) Jones of Decatur, GA and best friend Joe Lewis of New Haven. He was predeceased by his sister Sonjia Prentiss. Willie Jones was a proud veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He worked for DuPont in Wilmington and Richmond, VA for over 25 years until he pursued his love of cooking. He found his dream job at Eli Whitney Technical School where he passed on his culinary gifts to his students and school community. Butch loved family and entertaining his friends with his amazing cooking abilities. Our family would like to sincerely thank the Connecticut Hospice, Connecticut Hospice of Branford and Yale New-Haven Hospital for their excellent care and love given to Butch during his illness.
