Twenty lawyers, judges and legal aides presented exhibits before a downtown crowd serving as witnesses (and jury?) to what happens when legal actors drop their arguments and written rulings for forays in favor of nonverbal expression.
The occasion was an inaugural art show organized by the New Haven County Bar Association. It filled two floors of the Creative Arts Workshop this past weekend with paintings, prints, photos, pottery, stained glass, and metal sculptures created by local legal professionals from both the public and private sectors. An opening event brought the crowd there Thursday evening; the show ran through Sunday.
Profits and some proceeds from the show flowed to the bar association’s foundation, its charitable arm established in 1989.
“Some of the most incredible artists and musicians also share a legal background, and this show celebrates the convergence of the two worlds,” said New Haven attorney and bar association official Allie Jacobs, who organized the event.
