President Trump pardoned former Gov. John G. Rowland for two sets of felonies involving government corruption.

Meanwhile, legislators approved a law to weaken the state agency tasked with enforcing the clean-elections law Connecticut passed on a bipartisan basis following Rowland’s first conviction. Will the governor heed this week’s calls from good-government groups to veto the legislation?
