(Opinion) The school massacre in Uvalde, Texas, is unacceptable, yet only in the United States is it likely to happen. The political sector, which should be leading the country, has failed to lead.

Therefore, it must be bypassed, and some other sector must lead us to stop this kind of outrage.

I believe the sector that can lead us is made up of the teachers and administrators of all schools.

The Electors of the 116th Assembly District in City of New Haven are hereby warned to meet at their respective polling place in said town on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, for the purpose of casting their votes for State Representative to Fill Vacancy for the 116th Assembly District.

Notice is hereby given that the location of the polling places is as follows:

St. Luke’s Development Corporation Draft FY 21 – 22 Application to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Brownfield Clean Up Grant.

A thirty (30) day public-examination and comment period will begin on Monday, November 1, 2021 and end on November 30, 2021. St. Luke’s Development Corporation is seeking public comment and input on the Draft FY 21 – 22 Application to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Brownfield Clean Up Grant, including the Analysis of Brownfield Grant Alternatives (ABCA), specifically to address the receipt of funding to conduct environmental remediation for the parcels of land at 117 – 125 and 129 Whalley Avenue, New Haven, Connecticut. This grant must be used to carry out cleanup activities on brownfield sites, defined in CERCLA § 101(39) as property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of hazardous substances, pollutants, contaminants, controlled substances, petroleum or petroleum products, or is mine-scarred land. St. Luke’s will conduct a VIRTUAL PUBLIC MEETING on Monday, November 15, 2021 beginning at 7:00pm and ending when all attendees have had an opportunity to comment. Bid Documents will be available beginning October 26, 2021 at no cost by downloading from the BuildingConnnected FTP system website. Contact Maryann Bigda of Turner Construction Company at 203 – 712-6070 for BuildingConnnected FTP system access information.

The work mainly includes installation, testing and start-up of replacement air conditioning roof top units, demolition and disposal of existing units, rigging by crane near railroad tracks/high voltage lines, and related electrical and mechanical work, together with all incidental work thereto and in accordance with Bid Documents. NHPA is pre-purchasing the Roof Top Units for the selected Contractor to install.

Bidders must submit with their Bid on forms provided a list of their Intended Subcontractors, including:

• the set-aside use of DAS-certified Small Business Enterprises (“SBE”) for a requirement of at least 30% of the Bidder’s entire contract value;

• the set-aside use of DAS-certified Minority owned Business Enterprises (“MBE”), Women owned Business Enterprises (“WBE”) and/or Disabled owned Business Enterprises (“DisBE”) for a requirement of at least 25% of the Bidder’s entire contract value. BOARD OF ASSESSMENT APPEALS

The City of New Haven will be holding board of assessment appeals for motor vehicles only Friday September 10 from 5 PM to 7:00 PM, Saturday September 11 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and Monday September 13 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Assessor’s Office, City Hall, 165 Church Street.

The application for a motor vehicle assessment appeal is available from the New Haven BAA website or it can be obtained and filled out at the hearing. If feasible and the appeal is based on the physical condition of the vehicle it should be available at the hearing.
