A woman who lived in the apartment where the bodies were found had cancer.

The victims were identified Tuesday as Alfreda Youmans, 50; and Jeffrey Dotson, 42.

Police Chief Otoniel Reyes said it is far too early in the investigation to draw conclusions about motives or how exactly the incident played out..

At 1:30 p.m. police were closing off the street around the building at the corner of Winthrop and Chapel, and awaiting the arrival of the medical examiner. The bodies were still inside.

The two-and-a-half story, 6,922-square-foot building is zoned for up to 12 apartments, according to the city assessor’s database. It is is owned by 280 Winthrop Holdings, a limited liability corporation associated with Ocean Management, which is listed as a principal of the company. A notice on the front door alerts tenants that hazardous levels of lead paint had been found inside the building.
