Seven to eight inches of “wet heavy snow” fell on New Haven overnight, downing trees and knocking out power to about 300 households and businesses, according to city emergency services chief Rick Fontana.
He listed some of the locations where the trees fell: 19 Chester St., 240 Lawrence St., Lancraft Street/Pardee Street; 2 Victory Dr., 95 Fountain St., 142 Ramsdell St., 61 Morris Pl., 50 Miller St., 39 Lander St., Soundview Terrace.
The downtown street parking ban and posted snow emergency route ban remain in effect until noon Monday; the odd-side-of-street residential neighborhood parking ban “remains in effect until further notice.”
“Streets are getting better,” Fontana reported. “Please use situational awareness and yield the right of way to plow truck drivers, drive slowly and be mindful of wires down. Turn around; don’t drive over.”
He said the parks department’s crews are attending to around 30 downed trees, “some with wires, others without wires.”
Would love to hear this candidate, or any candidate, or local news outlet, talk about the significant uptick in shootings, and how they plan to work with the chief-less NHPD to combat this problem.
