Vaccination Registration Now Open For Residents 75+

Connecticut residents aged 75 years and older can now register to get vaccinated, as the state prepares to transition into the next phase of the Covid-19 vaccine rollout next week.

On Thursday afternoon, Gov. Ned Lamont sent out an email press release announcing that anyone 75 and older can now schedule an appointment to receive a Covid-19 vaccine during Phase 1B.

That phase of the governor’s statewide vaccination plan is set to begin on Monday, Jan. 18.

Residents 75 and older can click here to register online through the state’s Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS) and make an appointment to be vaccinated.

Those without internet access can call Connecticut’s COVID Vaccine Appointment Assistance Line at 877 – 918-2224. That phone line is managed by the state Department of Public Health and United Way. The line will take calls Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Phase 1B will also include residents aged 65 and older, residents with underlying health conditions that put them at greater risk of suffering serious adverse effects after contracting Covid, frontline essential workers, and residents and staff of congregate settings. But the state health department will be prioritizing vaccinating people over the age of 75 as part of the first wave of the Phase 1B rollout.

Eligible healthcare workers, emergency first responders, and nursing home residents and staff who fall under Phase 1A can still register to get vaccinated through the VAMS system or by calling the 877 – 918-2224 hotline.

The governor’s email on Tuesday urged residents over the age of 75 not to reach out to their physicians or healthcare providers directly for Covid vaccines, but instead to go through the VAMS registration system, the state hotline, and the online list of participating providers above.

The press release estimates that 1.3 million Connecticut residents are eligible for vaccination under Phase 1B. The state anticipates receiving 46,000 first doses of the vaccine per week from the federal government.
