For the second time in eight days, police had a stand-off that ended peacefully with a barricaded suspect in Newhallville.
The latest incident began Wednesday around 10:49 a.m. at Dixwell Avenue and Brewster Street , when detectives from the police department’s intelligence unit and shootings task force spotted a 29-year-old man wanted on multiple warrants, according to police spokesman Capt. Anthony Duff.
The man had already fled once from the detectives. He fled again, into the Presidential Gardens apartment complex. Cops sealed off the area; the SWAT team arrived.
“After about two hours, negotiators made contact with [the suspect] on the phone and convinced him to safely give himself up,” Duff wrote in a release. The man “walked out of an apartment and was taken into police custody without further incident. No injuries were reported.”
A similar incident unfolded around the corner on West Hazel Street last Wednesday. Click here to read about that.
