Bank Robber Stank — & Couldn’t Write

NHPD

What does that say? Robber in action at People’s Bank.

A teller needed help from a supervisor Tuesday at the People’s Bank on Amity Road. She couldn’t read a would-be bank robber’s note.

In a real-life updated twist of a famous fictional scene from Woody Allen’s Take The Money & Run (see video clip below), a would-be robber had trouble convincing the bank staff that he had written a threatening note and that he had a gun.

The cops were called in at 6:51 p.m. Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman:

A man told the teller he’d shoot her if she wasn’t given cash. He passed her a note. She couldn’t read it.

The teller alerted the branch manager, who also couldn’t decipher the note,” Hartman wrote.

The frustrated robber told them he had a gun. A gun wasn’t seen.

The teller handed over the cash from her drawer, and the crook took it and left the bank.”

The police are looking for the man. They described him as a white man with a medium build (neither fat, nor thin), standing between 5’10” and 6’00” tall. He wore a brown jacket over a grey hooded sweatshirt. His eyes are blue/ green. His knuckles were bloodied with cracks in the skin and he smelled bad.’”

No word on if he spells gun” as gub.”
