BettySoo’s Back

On a weekend when a longtime star guitarist and songwriter hits the Shubert (Elivs Costello), an up-and-coming singer-songwriter hits Westville for a return engagement in a more intimate setting.

That songwriter is Austin-based BettySoo. She spent a month in town during her last visit, in February; she was one of two featured musicians in a revue/musical called Long Time Gone: Words & Music By Bob Dylan.” Click here to read about that show; click on the video to hear how good Betty Soo sounded.

That performance took place in Lyric Hall, the revived vaudeville stage in Westville Village.

BettySoo returns to the Lyric Hall stage this Sunday night for a single show, starting at 7 p.m. (Details here.) Instead of channeling Bob Dylan, this time she’s for most of the evening performing her own material. She’s bringing a cellist and a drummer with her. She has toured the country for eight years and issued almost as many albums of gritty, sweet folk music.” Hear for yourself how Austin sounds in Westville. She made Dylan’s songs her own last time; will she make her own songs sound as good as Dylan’s?
