Cops Bust “Slut Wave”

Law enforcement agents swarmed into the Hill neighborhood Thursday morning in a drug gang sweep.

They arrested 11 alleged members and associates of the Slut Wave gang on drug and weapons charges, according to Sgt. Karl Jacobsen. Federal and state agents joined New Haven cops and the SWAT team in executing search warrants at four homes on Columbus Avenue, Rosette and Button streets, and Harding Place in Newhallville around 5 a.m.

At one home, two suspects hid behind an upright mattress with an assault rifle, according to Jacobsen.

He said the arrests were made without anyone getting hurt.

I guess we are making ourselves feel good with hese drug/gang arrest. And, people who would just assume see Balck men in prison anyway must be having a field day.

My questions are these: When will this city/nation start going Upstream and stopping this kind of criminal behavior (thinking) before it gets started? Or are we simply satisfied with continuing the anti-social behavior and simplistic thinking of standing Down-stream, catching the neglected boys turn to sociopathic bad men, and locking them away?

I fear the latter is true.

Based on the headline, I was expecting a much more interesting article.

Mr Ross-Lee,
Are you saying the police shouldn’t go after suspected gang members with assault rifles?
This city offers and spends a lot on social programs designed to set and keep people on the right path. From Head Start to, adult ed and job training to prison re-entry programs, there are socially supported options to criminality. Some people choose not to take advantage of programs like these and turn to crime.
I, for one, am happy anyone trying to hide from the police with his assault weapon has been taken off the street. That is one assault rifle that won’t be used on black on black crime, something I am sure you can be happy with. (assuming, as you have, the gang is indeed black)
Thanks to NHPD, State PD and Feds, keep up the good work.

@ SAMUEL T.ROSE-LEE, I WITH YOU ON THIS..even though there’s all these programs(ct works-etc) out here to rehabilitate ex-offenders not all work for instance a family member of mines went back to school recieved his cdl license only to be told because of his background he couldn’t get the job! Alot of these employers DO NOT give these guys a FAIR chance at all! SO@ NEW HAVEN TAXPAYER not dure what group yopur apart of but if your not in the thick of it and have first hand knowledge of what any minority goes through you really shouldn’t comment! The prison system is BIG BUISNESS..they have to keep these kids rolling in to make money off of them..watching A&E the other night a prison warden said the prison system isn’t designed to rehabilitate their here to do there time at that’s it so alot of these boys, men come out more angry and hostile than they were before they went in!Society isn’t really designed for minorities to succeed regardless if there’s programs out here its more of who you know and i know that PERSONALLY!
