A 58-year-old New Haven man died after a moped he was driving crashed into an unoccupied oil delivery truck parked on Lexington Avenue at 3:45 p.m. Friday, according to police spokesman Capt. Anthony Duff.
The police department’s Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating.
Police had not released the man’s name as of Saturday evening.
Speeding is a problem all over New Haven and Fair Haven Heights is no exception. Sometimes Quinnipiac Avenue is like the Indianapolis Speedway. Sometimes people speed the wrong way up one way streets.
Any loss of life is regrettable, more so when it might have been avoided.
It's still true that "speed kills".
My condolences to this man's family and friends.
