A postal carrier was taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon after a Volkswagen crashed into his truck.
The crash occurred around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Yale Avenue and Chapel Street by the entrance to the Yale Bowl.
A woman driving the Volkswagen was traveling northbound on Yale when she drove into the truck, which was heading eastbound on Chapel.
Two cyclists were riding westbound on Chapel at the time. They managed to avoid the crash. They remained at the scene and spoke with police.
Ambulance workers and firefighters arrived on scene to help the postal worker; police described his injuries as non-life-threatening. The VW driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.
Now is the city going to fix this intersection. I've been almost hit a few times. People come flying down Yale Ave, especially from the Derby Ave side. How about putting signs and painting stop signal ahead on the roadway. A simple solution till the city makes up its mind on how to handle this nightmare.
