The Force Was With Duff

Police Capt. Anthony Duff stepped inside Van Dome Wednesday night on an extra-duty assignment — and into the arms of Lt. Manmeet Colon.

The assignment: To receive the gratitude and support of his fellow cops as he recovers from getting shot nearly to death while confronting a shooter on the night of Aug. 12. Colon and a squad of other officers organized a party at the Hamilton Street nightclub in Duff’s honor. Other organizers included Sgt. Chris Cameron, one of the four officers who saved Duff’s life when responding to the shooting scene (at which the same shooter fatally hit a man named Troy Clark).

Sgt. Carlos Conceicao (pictured with Duff) ordered and help sell over 450 T‑shirts to raise money for Duff, who has been out on leave since the shooting (in which Duff did not fire his own weapon).

Small business owners from throughout the state donated prizes for the raffle. Five hundred people bought advance tickets; another 100 purchased them at the door. Assistant Chief Renee Dominguez (pictured setting up the prize table) said the event brought the police department together” to rally around hind make him feel the love that he deserves.” She said the search for the shooter remains an active investigation.” We’re very confident that we’re going to make an arrest,” she said.
