Elizabeth Myrtle Love Simmons Cardoza, 92, of New Haven, passed away Nov. 29, 2018.
She was born in Little Washington, N.C. on June 28, 1926, to the late Ithiel Conrad and Bula Love. Her biological mother Bula, died
giving birth to her. She was later raised by her stepmother, Sarah Woods Love.
She is a graduate of Hillhouse High School and subsequently retired as a customer service representative with the New Haven Register.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memories, her three daughters: Stephanie Alice (Alfred), Jan Elizabeth, Susan Frances, and one son, Wayne Morrison (Clara), nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She also leaves a host of relatives and friends along with one special friend, Charles Atkinson. She was predeceased by her first
husband, Samuel Morris Simmons and second husband, Linwood Cardoza.
A celebration of her life will take place Friday at 11 a.m. at Dixwell Avenue Congregational Church of Christ, 217 Dixwell Ave, New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Friday at the church from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment will be at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. Services by Howard K.
