Lieutenant Takes Crime Report To Video

The west side of town now has its own video report on weekly crimes, courtesy of top district cop Lt. Elliott Rosa.

Rosa, the new district manager for West Hills/ Westville/ West Rock/ Amity/ Beverly Hills, released his first edition Monday of Westville Weekly” on YouTube. (Watch it above.)

In the video he describes the previous week’s major incidents, including a break-in at Lyric Hall’s theater at 827 Whalley. The burglars broke in through the basement, through a $1,000 antique door, then stole two cordless drills and $150 in cash, Rosa reported.

Two gunshots were fired on West Rock Avenue, after which point a vehicle was seen leaving the scene with screeching tires.” No one was injured; police recovered a spent 9 millimeter shell casing. They were unable to locate any video of the incident. Detectives are on the case. The leads have seemed to go dry. I’ve walked the street myself; it seems to have gone quiet,” Rosa reported.

Police did bust a small PCP factory” on Wayfarer Street with the help of tips from the public. Thank you to the community for providing that information,” Rosa said. We worked well together. We got that cleaned up”

Cops also chased a group of people near an Austin Street apartment complex after they’d allegedly used a crowbar to try to break into a laundry area, The officers found two of the alleged perpetrators trying to hide under a car. These two individuals were not from New Haven. They were from Bridgeport,” Rosa reported. So let’s try to keep them in Bridgeport.”
